Dear One,

Without a doubt, this is the most important message you will ever receive. You see, I have communicated to you in many ways, but you are not responding.  Time is running short.  Your life will come to an end.  The clock is ticking even as you read this. 

This letter is another chance, maybe your last.  I want you to see into my heart so you will know what it is that I so desperately want you to understand - please read on. 

I want you to know that I exist.

Look around you.  Do you see trees, oceans, mountains, birds, flowers – and great varieties of all of it?  Your scientists have a done a terrific job of studying what I have made, and you have learned from them.  But there is so much they don’t know yet.  There is a great deal of my creation that is yet undiscovered.  There is so much of it that remains a mystery to human minds.  I planned it that way so you would be able to be filled with wonder and thrilled at discovery all of your lives.

This earth and everything in it was made for you – and for your fellow humans.  I had you in mind when I thought about what it would be and what it would look like.  I had you in mind when I formed it out of nothing.

Now take a look at your body.  Again, doctors and scientists have learned a lot about what it consists of and how it functions.  But any medical scientist will tell you there are unanswered questions about why things work the way they do.  Those who haven’t acknowledged my role in creation are still scratching their heads over how multiple complex systems in your body could evolve simultaneously so they could work together as beautifully as they do. 

After you have considered the world around you and have wondered at your own body, give yourself permission to consider the fact that I might exist.  And then you have a problem.  I am God.  I am not silent.  If I exist, you have to deal with me.  And that leads me to my next point.

I want you to know that I love you.

I tried to show you in the Bible how I sculpted the first man out of the mud.  With my own hands I formed him and then, unbelievable as it seems, I actually breathed into him my breath.  I put my own image into his being.  Why?  So that humans could be receptive to me.  I made you and other humans so they could respond to my voice, and so they would be complete only when there were in relationship with me.

And what motivated all that?  Love.  Pure and simple.  Love.  You see, I am love and love must reach out for someone else.  There is plenty of love to go around in the Trinity, but we wanted to extend beyond ourselves and share our love and goodness with those who would be created with the capacity to receive it and even to return it.

So, everything I do for you and for the human race is motivated by love.  Really.  That may not be the message that you have heard from some of my followers.  Some are concerned with emphasizing my judgment on sin. 

It is true that, as much as I love humans, I hate sin.  And sin will have to be judged.  But I love you and all of mankind, so I found a way to remedy the sin problem without making you pay and without condemning you.  That sounds too good to be true, doesn’t it?  But it is true.  Why?  Because I am motivated solely by love.  Please believe that.  I love you – more than you can ever know, and far, far more than any human could ever love another.

I want you to know me.

If you do get to know me, you’re going to like what you find.  So don’t stop now.  Please read on so you can know how to respond to my invitation to relationship.  You need to know how this ends. 

First of all, you’re probably a mess.  All humans are before they find me.  Sin entered the perfect world that I made (you can read all about it in my book, the Bible, if you want details) and, as a result, humans have made bad choices ever since.  Those bad choices have resulted in pain, sickness, unhealthy relationships, broken hearts, ruined environments, and, ultimately, death.

Worse than all that, though, is that those bad choices caused humans to turn their backs on me.  They went their own way and all of you have gotten into all kinds of trouble – and this is just the beginning of troubles for this earth and for eternity.  It will only get worse.

I want to fix all that.  I don’t want you to stay as you are.  I want to make you whole and well so you can live with purpose and hope.  But all of that will come only from me.  You have already tried lots of other ways to find fulfillment and peace and they fail you, don’t they?  Only I know you through and through.  Only I understand the difficulties you face.  Only I know how to heal your brokenness and make you well. 

How can I do that?  First, by taking care of the sin problem for you.  My invitation is for you to come just as you are.  Bring all your sinfulness, all your dirt, all your secrets, and all your struggles and come to me.  You probably have heard the truth of Jesus Christ, my Son, coming into the world in human form to pay the penalty for all your sins.  He did, you know.  It’s not just a story.  He lived in this world (again you can read about it in my book) and died so you would not have to pay for your own sins.  His death and resurrection make it possible for you to come to me even as messed up as you are.  Don’t be offended.  We both know it’s true!

What happens then?  Will I condemn you?  No!  Not if you come acknowledging that you cannot pay the penalty for the mess of your life.  Jesus did that.  It’s done.  But you have to accept what he did.  There is no cost to you.  He paid all that.  There is simply the requirement that you admit your hopelessness and accept that payment. 

After that, you will experience something you have never known before:  forgiveness.  You will be released from the guilt of your bad decisions.  Over time, you will be free of the addiction to behaviors and substances and negative relationships. You will be filled with a desire to know me.  And as we get better and better acquainted, your life will get cleaned up - in time, with my help, under my guidance.  You can’t do it by yourself.  But you and I can do it together.

Do you get it now?  Do you know how much I want you to know me?  Do you understand how great my love is for you?  Please come.  At least acknowledge that I exist.  Then give me a chance to reveal who I am.  I will, you know.  Just turn toward me. Tell me you want to know more.  Tell me of your anger, your pain, your unsolvable problems, and your broken heart.  Tell me.  I want to hear.  I will respond.  You’ll see.
