Biography
Beverly Van Kampen is a freelance writer, Bible teacher, and speaker. In addition to crafting magazine articles, monthly newsletters, and Bible studies, she serves as a writer updating supportive study materials for seminary level coursework for the Institute of Theological Studies in Grand Rapids, Michigan and is the author of The GodSense Devotional (2004) and The Bible Study Teacher’s Guide (2006). Her third book, The Bible for Skeptics, is scheduled to be released early in 2009. A former journalist, she has a degree in both journalism and education from Central Michigan University having taken two years of undergraduate coursework at Taylor University in Upland, Indiana and graduate work in communications at Western Michigan University. She taught high school and middle school English for several years, two of which were at an English-speaking school in Honduras, Central America. She also served for a time as Managing Director of The Scriptorium: Center for Christian Antiquities. The Scriptorium, now located in Orlando, Florida, houses a large collection of ancient Christian manuscripts and early printed editions of the Bible and related documents, which are made available for scholarly research and for guided viewing by the public. As vice president of Investment Property Associates, Inc., of Grand Haven, Michigan, Van Kampen had a successful 20-plus year career in various roles related to the development of investment real estate throughout western Michigan. She lives in Spring Lake, Michigan with her husband, Warren, a retired physician turned musician.
